Christian Scott Over 17.5 Outs (-105)
Diamondbacks vs Mets | 7:10 p.m. ET
Christian Scott has been among the few bright spots for the Mets during an otherwise bleak first third of the season.
The rookie has pitched to a 3.97 ERA in his four starts, three of which were strong showings of at least six innings.
The advanced metrics on Scott are favorable. He’s limited hard contact (36.9%) and barrels (6.2%), resulting in a 3.31 expected ERA. He's also kept his pitch counts in check thanks to a 5.4% walk rate (84th percentile).
The Diamondbacks enter this matchup hitting righties at a slightly below-average rate of late (97 wRC+ and .694 OPS over the past two weeks), and the bats could be slow after traveling from Texas to New York overnight.
Even worse, the Snakes have struggled on the road this season, especially against right-handed pitching. They sport an 84 wRC+ and .636 OPS, both marks ranking 27th among MLB lineups. Their hard-hit rate for the split is the seventh lowest (28.8%).
Thanks to a doubleheader on Tuesday, the Mets have used their bullpen for ten innings over the last two days. And given the game-altering implosions from his relievers of late, Mets’ manager Carlos Mendonza might opt to ride Scott as long as he can.
And the rookie has proven he can pitch deep into games, with opponents only hitting 2-for-18 off him in his third time through the order.
I have Scott projected to finish six innings at about 85 pitches tonight.
