For the first time in seven seasons, the Astros fell short of making an ALCS appearance. An absolutely remarkable run - Houston is looking to retool their team after a relatively disappointing 2024 campaign. Alex Bregman and Kyle Tucker are on their way out as Bregman signed with Boston and Tucker was traded to the Cubs. But the Astros did their best to reload as Isaac Paredes will assume 3B duties and Christian Walker will be their 1B. 

Projections suggest they'll notch around 86-87 wins, making them sneaky contenders for the World Series with odds at +1800. The Astros have made the playoffs 9 times in the last 10 seasons, including 7 ALCS appearances and 2 World Series titles. This deep postseason experience gives the team an advantage over many of their competitors.

Led by stars like Jose Altuve, and Yordan Alvarez, the Astros boast a formidable lineup. However, this team looks to be in a slow decline from their period of recent dominance. Time will tell if their remake will pay off, but they are still short favorites to win the AL West.

Astros Spread (Run Line)

When betting on baseball, you’ll be faced with three standard options: the moneyline, over/under, and run line.

The run line is a bet on the margin of victory, like a point spread. But because baseball is low scoring, the spread will almost always be -1.5 for the favorite and +1.5 for the underdog. The payouts for each will just be adjusted based on each team’s strength.

Here’s a brief example of a run line for a hypothetical Astros game:
