The Nuggets face off against the Grizzlies in a critically important game for the Western Conference seeding. However, they are acclimating to life with a new coach and there are some adjustments that we may expect. One thing that did not change is MPJ’s rotation where he does tend to see minutes without Jokic on the floor. MPJ is the only player on the Nuggets who scores fewer points without Jokic than with him. While that may sound obvious, Jokic demands such a high Usage rate himself that he can take away from his teammates individual scoring when he’s on the floor. MPJ is someone that thrives when he’s set up by Jokic and is not one that often creates for himself off the dribble. He’s had immense difficultly in this matchup as well. While he scored 24 points against Memphis back in November, that was a game without Jokic and he still needed 40 minutes to get there. He has to deal with Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr, and this sets up as a much better matchup for Christian Braun and Aaron Gordon. He’s under this line in 60% of games this season and the Pace up spot does not compensate enough for the tough matchup.
