Magic vs Lakers Picks, Prediction Today
It's time for our Magic vs Lakers picks and prediction today for Monday, October 30.
Can the Magic capitalize on their two-day rest edge with L.A. on the second game of a back-to-back? Or will the Lakers defend their home court?
Let’s preview Magic-Lakers and make a Magic vs Lakers prediction.
Magic vs Lakers Pick
Pick: Magic +4 | Play to +3.5
The Magic have started off the season taking care of their business, as they have won and covered both of their games so far.
This will be the toughest competition they will have faced, but there is a strong possibility the Lakers rest LeBron or Anthony Davis on the second night of a back to back. Even if the Lakers veterans don’t rest, the Magic will still have an edge here as they have a two-day rest advantage on the Lakers.
I am higher on this Magic team than the market, and I think that they have multiple guys who can beat you on any given night. Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero are approaching All-Star caliber, and Cole Anthony may be emerging as one of the better flamethrower Sixth Men in the NBA. This team has more continuity than the Lakers and should have a consistent edge at the point of attack, as the Lakers are devoid of effective guard defenders outside of Gabe Vincent.
I think that Anthony, Jalen Suggs, and Markelle Fultz will be able to get to their spots at will. If AD plays, he will be an effective rim-deterrent but all the Magic bigs can shoot the three ball, so I expect his rim-defense to be slightly muted here. When evaluating this Magic team, I sometimes worry about their lack of outside shooting and their inability to win the “math” game, in reference to their low three point attempt rate, but that should not be a factor here as the Lakers rank dead-last in three point attempt rate.
I trust the Magic to get better quality shots over the course of the game as the Lakers do not have creators outside of LeBron, D’Lo, and Reaves.
The Lakers have been unimpressive to begin the year as they have gone 0-3 ATS despite being fully healthy. Austin Reaves has not taken the leap we were all promised he would take, and LeBron is clearly not a top-10 level player anymore. AD’s defensive impact has been fine, but as mentioned above, I expect that to be a little bit less of a factor here. I’ve seen nothing from this Lakers team that makes me want to trust them on the second night of a back to back.
Pick: Magic +4 | Play to +3.5

I’d rather grab the Magic at +4 or +3.5 now, as I expect Lakers to pop up on the injury report tomorrow and I’m comfortable being on the Magic even if all the Lakers are available to go.
This Magic team is young and extremely athletic and this is exactly the type of team I want to back against an older Lakers squad coming off a grueling game against one of the fastest teams in the NBA.
Trust the young Magic and their fresh legs on the road here.
