Read on for the BYU vs Oklahoma State odds, picks and predictions in our college football betting preview for Saturday, Nov. 25.
BYU's first season in the Big 12 has been a struggle at times, particularly defensively. However, the team showed some fight last week when it covered as a 24.5-point underdog in a 31-24 loss to Oklahoma.
The Cougars still need one more win for bowl eligibility, but they will be a heavy underdog once again when they head to Stillwater to battle Oklahoma State.
Following its victory over the Sooners in the final scheduled Bedlam game, Oklahoma State was dominated in a shocking 45-3 road loss to UCF. Last week, it again fell behind 14-3 before rallying for a 43-30 victory. The Cowboys return home to close out the regular season in a game with significant implications.
A win over BYU clinches a berth in the Big 12 Championship game for the second time in three years. Will the offense lead the way to Dallas?
Last week, BYU allowed 31 points to Oklahoma, which is 10 points below its season average.
However, it was still just the third-lowest point total it has allowed in conference play.
In Big 12 play, the Cougars are allowing 30.1 points per game. They are 58th in Rush Success Rate, but they are 108th in Defensive Line Yards and 116th in Havoc generated. They're also last in the FBS with just 10 sacks in 11 games.
BYU's inability to generate pressure has led to a dreadful pass defense. It is 98th in Pass Success Rate and 123rd in Pro Football Focus' Coverage grades. It's allowing 232.6 passing yards per game, which ranks 76th nationally.
However, it's also allowing 177.3 rushing yards per game, ranking 113th nationally.
Shutting down Oklahoma State's running game will likely take top priority. However, the Cowboys' balanced attack could pose issues for the Cougars.
After a slow start last week, Oklahoma State scored 40 points for the third time in its past five games.
It tallied over 500 yards of total offense in the win. All-World running back Ollie Gordon II ran for 164 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries.
Gordon leads the FBS in rushing yards with 1,464 yards at 6.7 YPC while adding 16 scores. He also leads the nation in 20-yard and 30-yard carries. As a result, Oklahoma State is ninth nationally in Rush Explosiveness behind its Doak Walker and Walter Camp Award semifinalist.
Quarterback Alan Bowman also emerged as the starter in Big 12 play. He's averaging 281.5 passing yards per game and accounted for 12 total touchdowns in his eight starts. He has thrown for over 300 yards in two of his past three games, albeit with four interceptions.
Bowman has done an excellent job of spreading the ball around, as 10 players have double-digit receptions, and five have 250 yards.
Receiver Brennan Presley leads the team with 67 receptions and five touchdowns. He's coming off a monster performance against Houston, as he caught 15 passes for 189 yards.
Oklahoma State is middle of the pack in both Rush and Pass Success Rate. However, it's 17th nationally in Havoc allowed. It has allowed just 11 sacks this season and just five on Bowman.
Facing a struggling BYU front seven will allow Bowman the time to have a big day through the air, with Gordon slashing through the defense's interior.

BYU vs Oklahoma State
Betting Pick & Prediction
While nonconference play was a struggle for Oklahoma State's offense, it's now averaging 32.6 points per game in Big 12 games. It's scored 38 points in four of its past six games and has another great matchup this week.
BYU has struggled to get off the field all season, ranking 115th in third-down defense. That's not surprising, given that it struggles to rush the passer. As a result, Bowman should have a ton of time to throw this week. He will likely be looking for Presley early and often once again.
However, this is also an excellent matchup for the nation's leading rusher. Gordon needs just 36 yards to crack 1,500 for the season, which he may get on another one of his explosive runs.
However, I expect another 100-yard game here and likely two touchdowns.
Expect the Pokes' offense to keep firing and wager accordingly.
