Action Network's very own Brett McMurphy is reporting that Thursday night's North Carolina vs. Minnesota college football Week 1 matchup has been pushed to a 9 p.m. ET kickoff due to severe weather in the area.

Originally scheduled for an 8 p.m. ET start, a wet and windy North Carolina vs. Minnesota weather report for TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis caused officials to delay the start of tonight's game.

With this in mind, let's take a more detailed look at the latest North Carolina vs. Minnesota weather forecast, including just how ugly the conditions are expected to be on Thursday night.

North Carolina vs. Minnesota Weather Report Details

According to the National Weather Service, there's a severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 5:30 p.m. ET, which then gives way to a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 p.m. ET.

The current forecast calls for a 90% chance of precipitation, winds of 15 mph and the potential for gusts to touch 25 mph.

Thankfully, the strong winds are expected to calm down as the sun sets and tonight's matchup gets closer to kickoff.

The hourly breakdown shows a 94% chance of rain at the originally scheduled kickoff time of 8 p.m. ET, which then drops to 52% three hours later.

North Carolina vs. Minnesota weather continues to improve from there, with the rain probability dipping to 28% by 11 p.m. ET and to just 7% at midnight.

Live college football odds show North Carolina as a very short 1.5-point spread favorite against Minnesota as of the time of writing, with tonight's over/under sitting at 51.5.
