The betting markets reflect some uncertainty: although most models tilt slightly toward TCU winning (Dimers projects a 55 % win probability for TCU), UNC actually holds a 58 % probability of covering the spread, suggesting value embedded in the underdog money line. Plus, this matchup marks the debut of Bill Belichick at UNC, a major narrative that could swing momentum in unexpected ways—Belichick’s presence injects both motivation and a strategic edge that bettors might be underestimating Code: sirlocks for 10% off at playerprofit.com

TCU Horned Frogs 2025 Season Preview

The 2022 season was the high water mark for the Horned Frogs program. A shocking trip to the National Championship had TCU faithful rabid for continued success in 2023 - however, despite being ranked in the preseason top 25, TCU finished a with disappointing 5-7 record. Coming off that disappointing season, the Frogs are building momentum after an 8-4 2024 outing, followed by a New Mexico Bowl win against Louisiana.

The biggest storyline this season is the return of quarterback Josh Hoover for his third consecutive year as a starter. His 2024 campaign included close to 4,000 yards passing, 27 touchdowns, and a 151.1 passer rating.

On the defensive side of the ball, Andy Avalos returns for stability in the DC role. The Horned Frogs will need continued offensive success and a step up on the defense in order to compete for a Big 12 title.

Going into the fall, TCU has an over/under win total sitting at 6.5 with juice favoring the over. TCU has the sixth shortest odds out of 16 teams in the Big 12 to win the conference with consensus odds of +800.

TCU Horned Frogs Point Spreads

The point spread is a margin of victory that the favored team must win by and the underdog must try to avoid losing by. Betting on the spread is one of the most common ways for bettors to get action on college football, so bettors should be aware of what one is and how it works.

Here’s an example to help understand:

In the above example, you can tell that TCU is the favored team because its point spread has a minus sign (-) next to it; the visiting Baylor Bears are denoted as underdogs with a plus sign (+). Since the Horned Frogs are 6.5-point favorites, they would need to win the game by seven points or more to cover the spread. Bets on Baylor’s point spread would win if the Bears won the game outright or lost by six points or fewer.

TCU Horned Frogs Moneylines

Betting on the point spread is a bet on the margin of victory; betting on the moneyline is a bet on who you think will win the game, no other questions asked. Just like point spreads, the team favored on the moneyline will be indicated with a minus sign (-) and the underdog identified with a plus sign (+).

Let’s revisit our earlier example to understand further:

  • Baylor Bears +190
  • TCU Horned Frogs -235

The odds you see here are written in American format, which means you can understand them in terms of $10 or $100. Since the Horned Frogs are -235 favorites, that means a bettor would need to risk $235 to win $100 if TCU won. Meanwhile, a bet on the Bears at +190 would see a $100 bettor win $190 if Baylor pulled off the upset.

TCU Horned Frogs Over/Unders

Betting on a team to win or cover a point spread isn’t the only type of wager allowed on Horned Frogs football. Almost all sportsbooks will offer a total on the game, also known as an over/under. This bet is not on the winner of the contest, but on the number of points the two teams will combine to score: Sportsbooks hang a number, and bettors can wager either over or under that total.

If the number for our hypothetical Baylor vs. TCU matchup was 59 points, over bettors would require 60 points or more to cash their tickets, while those who bet the under would need 58 points or fewer. If the two teams scored exactly 59 points between them, that bet would push and all wagers would be refunded.

TCU Horned Frogs Props

Bettors who are more accustomed to fantasy football or daily fantasy shouldn’t handcuff themselves to bets that ride on the performance of one or both teams. Prop bets cover a wide variety of bets that are more likely on specific players or specific outcomes than they are on either team.

Most prop bets are player props, which are largely bets on an individual stat line. Common examples can include over/under bets on a player’s passing, rushing, or receiving yards; betting a player to score a touchdown, whether it be anytime or the first or last of the game; or betting on a player to lead the game in a certain statistic.

Game props are most often bets on events determined by the sportsbook, such as who will win the third quarter or the coin toss. Different books offer different props, so read our sportsbook reviews to make sure you can bet the props you want to.

TCU Horned Frogs Futures

Can TCU respark some of that 2022 magic? If you think so, you can snag juicy odds to win the Big 12 and beyond.

Futures are bets that won’t resolve until after the season and are most often made before the season begins. Futures can be bets on a team’s success or an individual’s performance.

Examples of futures bets on TCU could be betting the Horned Frogs to win the Big 12 or make the College Football Playoff, putting money on TCU to go over its regular-season win total of 6.5, or betting that they’ll win the national championship.

Futures on players exist as well and are most often found as season-long player props, such as betting QB Josh Hoover to throw over or under a certain number of touchdowns. Because odds and lines on futures can vary from book to book, we recommend shopping for the best number using the Action Network app.
