As we kick off the final weekend of the NBA regular season, the biggest question when it comes to props is player and team motivation. Between teams that have clinched playoff positioning and those tanking for draft position, rotations and availability typically go haywire.
The Pistons, however, are in a unique situation as they have already secured the NBA’s worst record. Futility solidified, they are free to try to win games and play their best players.
Rookie Jaden Ivey has been Detroit's go-to guy down the stretch. In his last 12 games, the combo guard is averaging 28 points plus assists (P+A) across almost 35 minutes per contest. Playing some of his best basketball of the season, he’s cleared this line in four of his last six games.
Ivey and the Pistons face the Pacers, who are still trying to maneuver their way down the standings. Over the last 15 games, Indiana has rated as the NBA’s worst defense while playing at the fourth-fastest pace. During this stretch, the Pacers have allowed the second-most combined points and assists to opposing guards.
It’s clear that Ivey is looking to close his first professional season with a bang, and I expect him to continue on that path tonight. I have the Purdue product projected at 32 P+A, and I would play this line to over 29.5.
Pick: Jaden Ivey Over 28.5 Pts + Assists | Play to 29.5
