One win away from an Eastern Conference finals berth, the Miami Heat have done a fantastic job pairing their complementary players with the likes of Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.
One of those supporting cast members is Caleb Martin. The former undrafted free-agent has served in a key role on both ends of the court through this series, clearing this points line in four of five games.
The key to the Heat’s success in this series is how they’ve empowered their role players such as Martin. The Knicks have done a decent job swarming Butler and making him into a facilitator, leaving Martin open on rotations.
When the ball finds Martin, the Nevada alum has the ability to hit open 3-pointers, or to finish at the rim off of a pump fake. Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra has entrusted Martin as the primary defender on Jalen Brunson, which is a major plus for the forward’s minutes.
Overall, Martin has cleared this line in each of the eight games he’s played at least 24 minutes alongside Butler in the playoffs. I’m projecting him at 28 minutes and 11 points tonight.
Pick: Caleb Martin o8.5 PTS -120. Play up to -135. |
