WNBA Expert Picks Tonight
Julie Vanloo has taken over as the Mystics starting point guard ever since Brittney Sykes suffered an ankle injury in the second game of the season. Vanloo has been great as a spot starter, but has only cleared this number in three of seven games.
Now, the Mystics have to face the undefeated Sun, who have allowed a league low 70 points and 17.8 assists per game.
Additionally, Jade Melbourne, who missed the first few games of the season with a concussion, has been eating into Vanloo’s playing time over the past three games. Melbourne has been playing well off the bench and could continue to limit Vanloo’s playing time into the low 20s.
I project this closer to -185 for a fair price.
Elizabeth Williams has averaged 7.7 rebounds and 30 minutes per game this season. However, her playing time is going to take a big hit now that Diamond DeShields, Kamilla Cardoso and Isabelle Harrison are all active.
Williams only grabbed five rebounds in 22 minutes last game and I think that trend will hold. This is also a tougher matchup against the Liberty, who have allowed the second-fewest rebounds per game.
The Liberty lead the league in both 2-point shooting and free-throw shooting percentage, which are the types of shots in which Williams is more likely to be involved in the rebound chances.
I project this line closer to -160.
