WNBA PrizePicks for Thursday, May 25
Chiney Ogwumike, Sparks, More Than 6.5 Rebounds (9)
Aces vs. Sparks, 10 p.m. ET, CBSSN
Chiney Ogwumike should continue to log heavy minutes for the Sparks with Azura Stevens out and Dearica Hamby's minutes limited.
Dating back to last season, Ogwumike has cleared this number in five of her last six games when playing 25 minutes or more.
The Aces are obviously a tough matchup for Ogwumike and the Sparks, but they play at a fast pace, which should allow for a few more possessions. That will only help Ogwumike's rebound total.
I'm projecting this closer to 7.5 and give Ogwumike a 64% chance to clear 6.5 rebounds.
Jackie Young, Aces, Fewer Than 4 Assists (8)
Aces vs. Sparks, 10 p.m. ET, CBSSN
Jackie Young was held to fewer than four assists 57% of the time last season. This year, with Candace Parker in the fold, Young's assist total is set to take a hit.
Parker has become more of a facilitator than scorer at this stage of her career, and she had five assists in her Aces debut.
I'm projecting Young's assist total closer to 3.3, with a 67% chance to stay under 4.
Diana Taurasi, Mercury, Fewer Than 5 Assists (8)
Lynx vs. Mercury, 10 p.m. ET, Prime Video
Diana Taurasi only cleared this number 31% of the time last season, and her current 5.5 assists per game would be her highest mark since 2014.
I expect Taurasi to be closer to 4.5 assists per game going forward this season, and am projecting her with a 64% chance to stay under (factoring out the 17% chance of this selection becoming a push).
Lexie Brown, Sparks, Fewer Than 10.5 Points (8)
Aces vs. Sparks, 10 p.m. ET, CBSSN
While Lexie Brown finished with 14 points in the Sparks' season opener, she had to be incredibly efficient to get more than 10.5 points.
In that game, she shot 3-of-5 from 3-point range, which is an outlier compared to her career mark of 36% shooting from beyong the arc.
Brown only played more than 25 minutes in a game 19 times a season ago. In those 19 games, she had more than 10.5 points in just five of them (26%).
I'm projecting Brown closer to 8.5 points tonight and give her a 62% chance of staying fewer than 10.5 points.
