Follow @PicksOffice on X. Revenge game setup in LA – Dodgers just dropped 2 of 3 to NYM, but the tables are turning. Dustin May coming off 9 K gem vs CLE, back-to-back wins for the first time this season. Blackburn making ‘25 debut after injury-filled layoff – hand, spine, knee, illness. No prep reps, no rhythm, zero edge. Dodgers rake at home – averaging 5.81 runs/game (1st in MLB). Ohtani’s red hot: 15 HRs in May, 4 in last 6 games. Betts out, but offense still crushed NYY 18-2. Muncy, Andy Pages, and Tommy Edman all homered last game. L.A. leads MLB in BA (.268), OPS (.817), and HRs (97). 44-18 last 62 at Dodger Stadium – crowd fuels them. Mets 13-15 on road, vs 24-7 at home. Recent head-to-head: Dodgers 39-18 in last 57 vs NYM.

New York Mets 2025 Season Preview

Expectations are high in the Big Apple as the New York Mets believe they have a strong shot at the World Series in 2025. The Mets brushed off a a sluggish start last season to reach the NLCS where they fell to the reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Mets followed that up with the biggest splash of the offseason with the historic signing of superstar outfielder Juan Soto. The four-time All-Star is blessed with tremendous power and patience at the plate.

Francisco Lindor remains one of the best middle infielders. Lindor is a clutch hitter and a shortstop. Mark Vientos is versatile enough to play first and third base while packing a punch at the plate as well.

Pitcher Sean Manaea is re-signed and should produce plenty of quality starts. The Mets also added pitchers Clay Holmes and Frankie Montas in free agency to help replace Luis Severino and Jose Quintana.

The pitching staff isn't elite but the offense has the potential for plenty of fireworks. The Mets will certaintly be in the mix for NL East crown.

Betting on the New York Mets

Below you can see examples for betting on the New York Mets.

Mets Spread (Run Line)

When betting on baseball, you’ll be faced with three standard options: the moneyline, over/under, and run line.

The run line is a bet on the margin of victory, like a point spread. But because baseball is low scoring, the spread will almost always be -1.5 for the favorite and +1.5 for the underdog. The payouts for each will just be adjusted based on each team’s strength.

Here’s a brief example of a run line for a hypothetical Mets game:

  • Philadelphia Phillies (+1.5)
  • New York Mets (-1.5)

1.5 runs against the Phillies favor the Mets; the minus sign (-) indicates New York is the favorite, while a plus sign (+) is used to denote the underdog. Bettors who wanted to back New York here would be “laying” those 1.5 runs, meaning for their bets to cash, the Mets would need to win by two runs or more. Bettors who selected the Phillies +1.5 would win if Philadelphia won outright or kept a loss to 1 run.

Mets Moneylines

Many first-time bettors are wary of run-line bets, especially when riding with the hometown team. In that case, moneyline wagers are often seen as the safer way to go. A moneyline bet is a bet on who wins the game -- no run line involved.

Let’s use the same example from before to understand the moneyline better:

  • Philadelphia Phillies +150
  • New York Mets -180

Like run lines, the minus sign (-) signifies a team is favored, while the plus sign (+) means a team is an underdog. The moneyline odds, written in American odds format here, indicate how big or small a favorite that team is, written in increments of $100. For example, to win $100 on the Mets, a bettor would need to risk $180. On the flip side, a $100 bet on the Phillies would net $150 if they pulled the upset.

Odds can differ from sportsbook to sportsbook, so always make sure you shop for the best line with The Action Network app.

Mets Over/Unders

Betting on a team to win or cover a run line isn’t the only type of wager allowed on MLB games. Almost all sportsbooks will offer a total on the game, also known as an over/under. This bet is not on the contest's winner but on the number of runs the two teams will combine to score; sportsbooks hang a number, and bettors can wager either over or under that total.

If the number for our hypothetical Mets-Phillies matchup were 8 runs, over bettors would require 9 points or more to cash their tickets, while those who bet the under would need 7 or fewer runs. If the two teams scored precisely 8 runs between them, that bet would push, and all wagers would be refunded.

Mets Props

Some bettors find more entertainment and success betting on more specific outcomes than the game's result. Prop bets cover a wide market of wagers on player stats, discrete in-game events, and any yes/no question style. Many props are bets on specific players and their performance, such as betting Juan Soto over 1.5 hits on a given night or betting that Sean Manaea will strikeout over 9.5 batters. Some props can be shorter, such as betting on the number of runs scored in the first five innings or who will hit a home run. Offerings vary depending on the sportsbook, so use our sportsbook reviews to find the best bet for you.

Mets Futures

Bettors should shop for the best line to get good odds on Mets futures bets. Futures are bets that focus on long-term outcomes, like the Mets winning the NL East, win the National League Pennant, win the World Series, or even individual awards like winning league MVP.
