We still have one more week of preseason football to grind through before the regular season kicks off. We start that week with a Colts vs. Eagles pick.
The final slate of games is usually chock full of duds, but that doesn’t figure to be the case when the Colts visit the Eagles. Just look at what happened earlier this week when a massive brawl broke out that forced them to cancel the rest of their joint practice.
The Colts and Eagles are deploying opposite strategies heading into the preseason finale. Let's break down the Colts vs. Eagles odds and make a pick.
The Eagles have never played their starters in the final preseason game under head coach Nick Sirianni, and all indications point to that continuing Thursday night.
The same can’t be said of the Colts, though, and for good reason. While Philadelphia returns virtually the same team that reached the Super Bowl a year ago, Indianapolis has undergone a major facelift, especially on offense, as it hands the keys to rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson.
The Colts' new-look starting offense has played three series thus far, all coming in their first game against the Bills. That’s more than some NFL teams trot out their starters for the entire preseason, but head coach Shane Steichen revealed we’ll see Richardson and the rest of first team against the Eagles.
Indianapolis' offense needs all the reps it can get, and that's especially true for Richardson. He’s had a solid, though far from spectacular, showing thus far, completing 7-of-12 passes for 67 yards and one interception.
However, while Richardson struggled with consistency, reports out of Colts camp suggest the rookie has made some “Mahomes-ian” splash plays at practice. He should hopefully be able to do that Thursday night against an Eagles defense deploying second and third-stringers.

While Richardson has a tasty matchup against backups, all eyes will be on the Colts’ running backs, as well. Drama swirled around Indianapolis this week as the team granted Jonathan Taylor permission to seek a trade.
With primary backup Zack Moss out with a broken arm, there’s an all-out battle among the other five running backs to not only earn a roster spot, but potentially be the lead back heading into the regular season.
It’s a rare opportunity up for grabs this late in the summer, so I suspect these running backs will have some extra juice.

Betting Picks & Predictions
Philadelphia should once again be among the league’s elite, while the Colts seem destined to be a bottom dweller.
However, for at least one night in late August, Indianapolis will field the more talented team. If the Colts can’t take advantage, fans might be in for an even longer season than feared.
For that reason, I’m taking Indianapolis -2.5 in the first half. However, if the line moves to -3.5 or higher, I consider it a stay away.
The same goes if Sirianni reverses course and opts to play any of his starters, so keep a keen eye on the line prior to kickoff.
