It's the first Sunday Night Football game of the season, and we've got a home divisional 'dog at more than a field goal.

Not only do the Giants have the better head coach, but they might just have the better quarterback.

Everybody has been telling us this Cowboys team is top three in the NFC. The Giants, on the other hand, are an afterthought. Most view Brian Daboll’s team as one that got lucky last year and is destined to finish this season below .500.

This game has my favorite trend for this matchup: Divisional home underdogs are 25-13 against the spread in Week 1 (including 7-0 since 2018), 15-2 since ‘12 and 21-5 since ’09.

The Giants may lose this game, but it won’t be by more than a field goal.

You have seen the success home divisional home dogs have had in Week 1. They have covered seven straight since the beginning of 2018 and are 88% against the number since 2012.

In September games over the last 10 seasons, home divisional underdogs are 25-12 (65.7%) against the spread. Even the best of power ratings by oddsmakers haven't had enough time to adjust early in the season, thus leading to the most exploitable of prices during the first few weeks.

The Cowboys offensive line is undoubtedly in danger of losing the battle at the line of scrimmage. Guard Tyler Smith has already been ruled out and Tyron Smith continues to battle injuries as he is also listed as a true questionable.

If the Giants continue their aggressive blitzing ways (highest rate in the NFL in 2022), and Dak Prescott is lacking protection, it will force the mistake or two that Giants bettors need to cash. New York is no stranger to doing just that, as it finished last season 11-3 against the spread as underdogs.

Play the Giants +3.5 down to +3

The Cowboys could be set for a big season and challenge the Eagles for the NFC East crown if everything goes according to plan.

On paper, the Cowboys have the potential to be top five on offense and defense. While I often find myself rooting for Brian Daboll, the Giants overperformed last season and come into this one with a win total of only 7.5 (juiced to the under).

The Cowboys have been dominant in this matchup, winning 11 of the last 12 meetings. I also like the way the matchup sets up for Dak Prescott. His biggest issue last season was throwing interceptions and the Giants only forced six picks last season.

If the offense can avoid the turnovers and build a lead, Micah Parsons and this defense should be able to get after Daniel Jones and an uninspiring receiving corps.

Darren Waller Anytime Touchdown Scorer +200

Darren Waller is questionable with a hamstring injury, but indications are he’ll suit up. Hopefully that’s the case as a Waller Anytime Touchdown is my favorite prop this week. You can get it anywhere from +180 to +200 — odds simply too good to ignore.

Waller was the star of training camp, according to those who follow the Giants closely. They also noted he was far and away the most targeted player in the red zone, which makes sense since the tight end is easily the most talented weapon Daniel Jones has ever had.

Big Blue gave up a third-round pick to acquire Waller, so you can’t blame them for wanting to reap the rewards of their investment right off the bat.

Anytime Touchdowns are some of my favorite bets when I see tremendous value. That’s absolutely the case here. In fact, before the injury, I considered sprinkling a tiny amount on two anytime touchdowns at +1500.

I always consider multi-TD props long-shot dart throws, but that’s how high I am on Waller’s expected usage in the red zone.

Pick: Darren Waller Anytime Touchdown (+200)
