It's time to make a Jets vs. Giants betting pick for NFL preseason Week 3.
Not much can be taken from a preseason finale — especially between New York rivals set to play in the regular season — but there's still some betting value to be had.
So, let's dig into the matchup and come up with a Jets vs. Giants pick.
Aaron Rodgers will be making his preseason debut with the Jets as Robert Saleh wants to get him some reps before the season opener. Rodgers hasn't played in a preseason game since 2018, so it will be interesting to see how he performs. Saleh also confirmed that RT Mekhi Becton and guards Laken Tomlinson and Alijah Vera-Tucker will be active.
I’d expect most of the first-team offensive line to play with Rodgers and depart once his night is over. Becton played about half of the snaps in last week’s matchup against Tampa Bay, and Saleh indicated that he'll see increased play on Saturday.
I wouldn’t expect Rodgers to play for more than three drives, so we should expect to see Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle for the majority of the snaps.
Wilson has been phenomenal in his three preseason starts, completing 26-of-38 passes (68%) and throwing two touchdowns without an interception. Overall, Wilson has posted a 96.2 QBR this preseason. Meanwhile, Boyle has been decent with a 73.5 QBR and 62% completion percentage.

There hasn't been any news regarding whether Giants head coach Brian Daboll will play his starters, but I expect him to rest most of them. Even if Daniel Jones and the first-team offense sees time on the field, it shouldn't be for more than a drive or two.
Expect to see quarterbacks Tyrod Taylor and Tommy DeVito split the bulk of the snaps under center. Taylor was solid last week, when he completed 9-of-13 (69%) passes and threw for 90 yards and one touchdown. He finished the game with a solid 85.4 Pro Football Focus (PFF) grade, while DeVito has a subpar 62.5 PFF grade through 44 dropbacks across two games. However, DeVito has shown an ability to be accurate with 69% of his passes completed.
The Giants traded a seventh-round pick to the Cardinals for LB Isaiah Simmons on Thursday, so all eyes will be on him when he takes the field. Simmons hasn't lived up to the hype after being drafted seventh overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. The Giants had the opportunity to take him fourth overall, but opted to select stud-LT Andrew Thomas.
Simmons has struggled against the run, but he finished last season with an outstanding 83.5 pass rush grade, according to PFF. Wink Martindale is king of the blitz, so he should be able to maximize Simmons' athleticism. Barring any complications with his physical, expect Simmons to be on the field quite a bit in this one.

Betting Picks & Predictions
I definitely lean toward the Jets as a side since their QB depth is superior, and we're even getting a couple drives from Rodgers. This edge is reflected in the line as the Jets are laying six points, and I’m simply not a fan of laying that big of a number in preseason.
Instead, I'll look toward the under. I have a feeling we'll see a lot of Boyle and DeVito in the second half since both teams have massive Week 1 openers against division rivals, which means neither wants a key injury in the preseason finale.
