We begin a two-game slate on Friday night in the NFL preseason by making a Panthers vs. Giants pick.
Both teams enter the second week of the preseason looking for their first win, and one team is still looking for its first points. We should see a lot of Bryce Young in this game after an underwhelming debut, as well as a Daniel Jones cameo after the Giants' starting QB sat out the preseason opener.
Let's break down Panthers vs. Giants odds and make a pick below.
It's never good when a team has more impromptu postgame offensive line meetings than points, but such is the state of the Panthers offense.
Bryce Young and the starting offense played three series last week against the Jets, and they're expected to get a similar amount of reps in this game, according to head coach Frank Reich. The Panthers' first-team offensive line isn't fully healthy, so I still expect the starting offense to struggle against a Giants defense that has a lot of young players like rookie CB Deonte Banks (first-round pick) and rookie CB Tre Hawkins III (sixth-round pick) who are playing well in camp and should play a good amount of snaps.
I don't expect Carolina's second- and third-string offense to fare much better against the Giants' backup defense. Matt Corral and Andy Dalton (if he plays) shouldn't expect to have much time to throw with the line in flux, and Carolina's backup wide receiver depth has taken a hit with Terrace Marshall Jr. (back) and Damiere Byrd (IR-hamstring) sidelined.
The box score says the Giants defense allowed 21 points last week against the Lions, but Detroit got one of its touchdowns off a 94-yard punt return, which is obviously unlikely to repeat.

We should expect to see the Giants' offensive starters for the first time this week, but the Panthers' starting (and backup) defense is in much better shape than its offense, so there are no huge mismatches to speak of here.
Both of these teams tend to rotate offensive linemen in and out on a play-to-play basis, which should use up a few extra ticks on the game clock between plays. Ultimately, there isn't any reason to expect much offense from either side.
