49ers vs. Eagles
It’s an ugly sight to see on a weekly basis, but the Eagles offense ranks third in scoring at 28.2 points per game, and unlike some of the other top scoring units in the league, Philly posts a modest number in the points column almost every week. The Eagles have scored 21-plus points in 10 of 11 games this season, and they scored 25-plus points in eight of those contests despite ranking just ninth in total yardage and 10th in yards per play.
So you may ask, “How do they do it?” The answer is simple: Philly’s trademark QB sneak, the Tush Push.
The Eagles rank third in third-down conversion rate at 47.3%, and they’ve scored a touchdown on 64.6% of their red-zone drives – that's a byproduct of it basically being first-and-9 on every set of downs. If Philly can get to fourth-and-1, head coach Nick Sirriani can leave his offense on the field without hesitation.
However, the biggest beneficiary of the Eagles’ red-zone success via the Tush Push has been Jalen Hurts. Hurts is listed as the standalone favorite to win MVP at most books, and it’s tough to argue with the numbers. He ranks third amongst all players in rushing touchdowns (11); on top of that, he’s also top 10 in passing touchdowns while quarterbacking his team to the best record in football thus far.
Hurts has rushed for a touchdown in six of the Eagles’ last seven games, and he’s found the end zone four times over the last two weeks. This is great value for an anytime TD, regardless of opponent strength.
49ers vs. Eagles
For a 10-1 team, the Eagles defense has been pretty mediocre. They enter the week 20th in scoring and 10th in yards per play.
However, it’s incredibly difficult to move the ball on the ground against Philly, highlighted by the Birds defense holding the opposition to fewer than 90 rushing yards in eight of 11 games. In the secondary, they’ve surrendered 300-plus passing yards in nearly half of their contests (five).
Enter Brock Purdy, who was relatively quiet in the 49ers’ blowout win over Seattle on Thanksgiving, completing 21-of-30 pass attempts for 209 yards.
Prior to his latest outing, Purdy had topped 250 passing yards in seven of his last eight games while clearing the 295-yard passing mark in four of those affairs. I believe Purdy is destined to go over his passing yards number in this spot – win, lose or draw.

49ers vs. Eagles
A.J. Brown leads the Eagles in receiving yards per game by a pretty wide margin with an average of 95.5, followed by DeVonta Smith (67.1), Dallas Goedert (45.6) and D’Andre Swift (18.3).
However, Brown has been trending down over the last few games. He hauled in just one reception for fewer than 10 yards against the Chiefs two weeks ago, and then he had five catches for 37 yards against Buffalo.
That said, Brown has still managed to score a touchdown in four of his last five contests, and he found the end zone twice against Washington back in Week 8, giving him five touchdowns in the Eagles’ last five games.
Philly’s offense has been missing Dallas Goedert for the last two weeks, and as of Wednesday, he still hasn’t returned to practice. The size and strength of Goedert is a huge part of the Eagles’ game plan in the red zone, but when he’s out, Brown steps into the sturdy, possession pass-catcher role in short-yardage spots while also threatening to strike from the outside, per usual.
Even if Goedert returns, I still like the value on Brown to score another TD at plus money.
