Before joining Action, Malik worked for four years at ESPN in the Stats and Information Group as a Stats Analyst, researcher, and editor. He spent a large of his time tracking live NBA games and using advanced data to tell deeper stories about team and player performance. He also specialized in creating boxing content for ESPN.com and studio shows like SportsCenter. Malik has worked in sports since his days working as an agate clerk and writer with the Daily Press in Newport News, VA, from 2010-2013.
Education
Malik is a graduate of Hampton University, an HBCU in Hampton, VA where he earned a degree in broadcast journalism with a minor in psychology. As a student, he wrote for the school newspaper and was a sideline reporter at football and basketball games.
