Patrick Everson
Bio
Patrick is a national reporter covering the sports betting industry. His primary role involves reporting on how games/events are being bet: Where the sharp play is, what the public is backing, big bets, and sportsbook needs/liabilities etc., through his extensive network of industry sources.
He's been involved in sports betting content since 2005, and it's been his full-time job since April 2016. Prior to joining VegasInsider/Action Network in August 2022, Patrick spent a decade with Covers.com, including 5.5 years as senior reporter.
Patrick is also a 25-year veteran newspaper journalist, as a sports writer/copy editor/editorial writer.
Experience
Patrick is the senior reporter for VegasInsider and also contributes to Action Network. He began his career in the remote outpost of Craig, Colo., as a one-person sports department for the Northwest Colorado Daily Press. He spent 2.5 years at the Loveland (Colo.) Reporter Herald as a sports writer. He then moved on to the Las Vegas Review-Journal as a sports copy editor/writer, winning multiple writing awards across his 19 years on the sports desk. In his final three years at the Review-Journal, Patrick was an award-winning editorial writer, often touching on sports betting legislation/regulation in his editorials/columns. He remains based in Las Vegas, where he's lived since 1994.
Education
Patrick graduated from the University of Colorado-Boulder, with a degree in journalism and an emphasis in history. He was a sports writer and sports editor for The Campus Press, covering Colorado's national championship football team in 1990-91.
