Charlotte Hornets vs Indiana Pacers NBA Preview
The Hornets take on the Pacers tonight, and I’m targeting LaMelo Ball over 23.5 points.
I really like this spot for LaMelo, even though the number may feel a bit high considering his recent results.
He’s gone under this number in five straight games, but he was still working his way back from injury and getting eased in with 27-28 minutes.
That’s a clear downturn from the 33-36 minutes per game he was playing before the injury.
What makes this matchup appealing is Indiana’s defensive approach.
The Pacers typically guard straight up and don’t send much help, which plays directly into LaMelo’s strengths.
He should be able to get downhill consistently and create his own offense.
Indiana has also struggled with similar lead guards: Devin Booker scored 33 on them, and Isaiah Collier had success as well with 14 points.
There’s also historical comfort here.
The last time LaMelo faced Indiana, Charlotte won by 20 and he dropped 31 points.
This matchup profile fits him well, and the current line appears to be discounting the ramp-up period following his return from injury.
