Pistons vs Pacers NBA Preview

On Saturday, the Pistons defeated the Bucks by a score of 129-116 to extend their winning streak to 12 games.

Cade Cunningham led the way with 29 points, eight rebounds, and 10 assists for his ninth double-double of the year.

He is one of three players averaging 27 points, five rebounds, and nine assists per game this season, along with Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic.

In that game, the Pistons welcomed back Tobias Harris from injury, and Jaden Ivey made his long-awaited return.

Harris scored 18 points on 7-for-9 from the field in 23 minutes, while Ivey scored 10 points on 4-for-6 from the field in 15 minutes.

Ivey's dynamic speed and playmaking ability will be a boost to Detroit's rotation, but he will likely continue to come off the bench in the interim.

The Pistons defeated the Pacers by a score of 127-112 last Monday.

The Pacers have been riddled with injuries this season, the most notable being that of All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton, who is out for the season with a torn Achilles.

However, Bennedict Mathurin, Andrew Nembhard, Obi Toppin, T.J. McConnell have all missed time as well, in addition to Aaron Nesmith, who is out for several weeks with a MCL sprain in his left knee.

Mathurin returned to the lineup against the Pistons and scored 25 points.

He is averaging 26.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in five games this season. He has not played enough games yet to qualify among league leaders, but Pascal Siakam has, and he is tied for 19th in scoring at 24.8 points per game to go along with seven rebounds.

Due to all of the team's injuries, the Pacers rank 29th in both offensive rating and net rating.

However, since Mathurin's return, they have bumped to 16th and 19th respectively in those categories.

Pistons vs Pacers Prediction, Betting Analysis

Over the Pistons' last six games, they rank seventh in offensive rating. They scored 124 points in four of those games, including 129 against the Bucks with the team being the healthiest it has been this season.

They have now split the last four meetings with the Pacers and in the wins, the Pistons scored 130 and 127 points.

Indiana has given up at least 118 points in each of its last six games.

If the Pistons' offense has another big night, that will likely mean another high assist game for Cunningham.

He has 10 assists in eight of his past nine games and he likes to set the table early before going for his own offense.

I also like Harris for 10 points, which he has cleared in five of six games this season as well as each of his last six games against the Pacers.

Being shorthanded has led to the Pacers becoming more concentrated on offense, as the bulk of their scoring has come from a combination of Siakam, Mathurin, and Nembhard.

Against the Pistons, Siakam and Mathurin combined for 54 of the team's 112 points and 33 of the team's 84 field goal attempts.

They both have scored 20 points in each of their last three games and I expect that to be the case again.

Pick: Pistons Team Total Over 122.5 (-115)
