Lakers vs. Pacers Preview

The Lakers are favored by a single point, making this game nearly a pick 'em. They are coming off a double-digit loss to Orlando and have lost and failed to cover in three straight.

With LeBron James back, neither streak is expected to continue long-term, though they're 0-2 since his return. The Pacers have won five straight, but only covered in two. To be fair, they beat Minnesota outright as a home underdog last game (+1.5).

Lakers vs. Pacers Prediction

Tyrese Haliburton double-double is where I'm going.

He's notched double-doubles in 11 straight and is playing a Lakers' defense that's been struggling at the point of attack. We've seen Josh Giddey, Coby White, Franz Wagner, Jamal Murray and Damian Lillard carve up this defense in recent outings. Haliburton is more than capable of doing the same, even against a desperate Lakers defense.

The 10 assists are the bigger hurdle given that Haliburton has had double-digit points in every game since February 4, but he's done the same as a distributor in every game he's played since February 20 — the first game back from the All-Star break.

Simply put, Haliburton is averaging about 22 and 12 since the All-Star break with double doubles in 11 straight and was off by one assist in the game before the streak began.

The Pacers and Lakers are both expected to be healthy, which will help Haliburton in the "potential" assist category as well.

Best Bet: Tyrese Haliburton Double-Double (-125, Fanatics)
