Los Angeles Lakers vs Portland Trail Blazers Preview

The Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers will meet from the Moda Center on Thursday Night.

The Lakers begin this matchup with a record of 32-21. Los Angeles has made headlines over the past month after the blockbuster trade involving Anthony Davis and Luka Doncic.

The Lakers stunned the league when they acquired one of the best players in the NBA in Doncic. Doncic began the season as the betting favorite to win MVP. The trade will become one of the most significant in NBA history.

The Lakers are hopeful the trade will give them a legitimate shot at an NBA Championship. Los Angeles has odds of +1800 to win the finals, which are the sixth-best in the NBA.

JJ Redick's team will attempt to bounce back after two bad losses against the Utah Jazz and the Charlotte Hornets.

The Lakers were defeated 100-97 last night against the Hornets as a 12.5-point favorite. LeBron James leads the Lakers with 24.3 points and 9.0 assists per game.

Luka Doncic has struggled early in his Lakers career with 14.7 points per game and 5.3 assists. Austin Reaves has enjoyed the best year of his career with 18.9 points per game and 6.1 assists. The Lakers have averaged 113.0 points per game.

The Trail Blazers come into this game with a record of 23-32. Portland is 0-2 head-to-head with the Lakers this season, losing both games on the road.

These two teams most recently played on January 2, where the Lakers defeated the Blazers 114-106. The Blazers entered the All-Star break, losing three straight games.

The poor stretch places Portland 13th in the West as they trail the final play-in spot by five games. Portland has not made the postseason in three straight seasons. The Blazers are likely on their way to missing the playoffs for the fourth straight season. Anfernee Simons leads the Blazers with 18.6 points per game.

Former Kentucky standout Shaedon Sharpe has averaged 17.1 points per game and 2.5 assists. Veteran Jermai Grant has added 14.7 points per game and 3.3 rebounds. Grant is questionable for tonight's game. Portland has averaged 109.2 points per game.

We will ride with the road favorites tonight.

After a poor showing last night against the Hornets, tonight's game is a tremendous buy-low spot for the Lakers.

I expect James and Doncic to suit up for this game, which may move this line as the day progresses.

Los Angeles should bounce back and earn a win and cover tonight. The Lakers are 4-2 in back-to-back games this season.
