NBA Same Game Parlay Strategy Guide for Tuesday
Pistons vs Wizards Parlay Preview
The Angle: Detroit's All-Star Duo Shines, Washington Keeps the Game Close
Cade Cunningham Over 34.5 Points + Assists
On Sunday afternoon, Cade Cunningham had 33 points against the Raptors. It was his first 30-point outing in his last 13 games.
However, Cunningham has scored 30 points in four of his last eight games against the Wizards. He has averaged 30.1 points in that span, comfortably over tonight's 24.5 line tonight.
Cunningham added nine assists on Sunday, but that was actually just the third time in his last 10 games that he finished with less than 10 assists. He is averaging 11.5 assists and 17 potential assists over his last 10 games.
Cunningham also has averaged 17 potential assists against Washington recently. He has averaged 9.4 assists over the last eight meetings, but he has had 10 assists in four of his last five games against the Wizards.
The Wizards are 29th in both points and assists allowed. They are also on the second night of a back-to-back.
Cunningham has combined for at least 35 points and assists in 57% of his games this season. Averaging 39.5 PA over the last eight meetings, he is in prime position to clear this line once again.
Pick: Cade Cunningham 34.5 Points + Assists
The Contrarian SGP: Wizards to Cover, Duren 20+ Points
Jalen Duren 20+ Points
A bit of rarity happened on Sunday as just one of Jalen Duren's baskets was assisted by Cunningham.
Duren scored 20 points on 8-for-11 from the field. It was his sixth 20-point game in his last 10 games and he is averaging 21.1 points in that span.
Duren played just 13 minutes in the last matchup with Washington, so that brings his averages down a bit, but he has feasted on the matchup. He has eight double-doubles in the past nine meetings while averaging 14.3 points and 13.6 rebounds per game.
While the Wizards are last in both points and rebounds allowed to centers, I am focused on the points tonight.
Duren has scored 18 and 19 points in the last two games he finished against Washington.
Tonight, he will not have to contend with Alex Sarr, who will miss a second consecutive game.
Sarr is the only Wizard averaging above a block per game. Without his presence, Duren should get to 20 points for the fifth time in his last five games.
Pick: Jalen Duren 20+ Points
Wizards +20.5
Despite Cunningham's and Duren's offensive efforts on Sunday, the Pistons fell 119-108 to the Raptors. They are just 5-5 over their last 10 games, but they still hold a 3.5-game over the Celtics for the top seed in the East.
However, it was not long that the Pistons were at the dwelling at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with the Wizards. Maybe the Wizards use that as motivation because they have given the Pistons several battles of late.
In the last four meetings, the Pistons have been favored by 11, 13.5, 15, and 16.5 points. Detroit won the first matchup by 20 points, but Washington has won two of the last three meetings outright. In the other, the Pistons needed to rally from 13 down in the fourth quarter to force overtime and win by two points.
In that game, the Pistons had Cunningham and Duren, but were without Tobias Harris, Ausar Thompson, and Isaiah Stewart among others.
That led to Cunningham taking 45 shots, an unusual number for a usually pass-first player. Cunningham finished with a career-high 46 points to go along with 12 rebounds and 11 assists while Duren had 19 points and 14 rebounds.
Washington is the shorthanded team tonight as it will be without Sarr and Trae Young suffered a quad contusion last night. Though, given the Wizards current priorities, it's unlikely that he would have played on the second night of a back-to-back anyway.
They will also be without Bilal Coulibaly, and Kyshawn George remains out, which has caused the spread to ballon to nearly 20 points.
This is a ton of points to lay for a Pistons team that is just 3-7 ATS in its last 10 games.
Additionally, as a Pistons fan, I am leery of them covering large spreads in some matchups because of the lack of shooting on the roster.
The Wizards have lost 12 games in a row and that should continue tonight. However, they are 4-2 ATS in their last six games as double-digit underdogs.
On Saturday, they were 20.5-point underdogs in Boston, went down by 30, but covered with an 11-point loss.
If the Wizards can hang with the Pistons once again, they will also likely force to Cunningham and Duren to exert more effort and ultimately clear their lines.
