Denver Nuggets vs Golden State Warriors NBA Preview

I can understand some of the frustration that bettors might have at the moment with the Nuggets. After all, they're just 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games. While we've seen signs of inconsistencies from this team, we also know they can be outstanding when they're purring and motivated.

This recent loss to the Wizards could be a warning sign that Nuggets head coach Mike Malone can use to get a reaction out of his players. Thus, this line feels a bit steep for a Denver team looking to put things right off such a disappointing defeat. As long as the Nuggets have Nikola Jokic on the floor, there's always the potential for them to blow teams out of the water.

Malone has combined Jokic's efficiency with the energy and pace of Russell Westbrook to put the Nuggets in contention for the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. Although there was some doubt about whether this partnership could work, there can't be too many complaints now.

Denver's biggest challenge will be improving defensively for the remainder of the season. The Nuggets defense ranks 22nd in efficiency, allowing 114.9 points per 100 possessions. However, Denver cleverly uses its offense to somewhat mask its defensive shortcomings. If the Nuggets can play the game at their preferred frenetic pace, they should have an excellent chance of staying inside the number.

A lengthy injury report for both teams has forced the sportsbooks to drag their feet to put out player props for this matchup. As a result, there aren't many options currently available outside of those that involve Jokic and Golden State's Stephen Curry.

However, Fanatics has an interesting head-to-head prop between the two superstars on which player will score the most points. Jokic is a deserving favorite with odds at -180, and he's coming off a 40-point effort against the Wizards. As for the Warriors, they're a more balanced team offensively, meaning less reliance on Curry.

It's difficult to envision the Nuggets keeping this game close without a big performance from the three-time MVP. Thus, these two angles are positively correlated and worth considering as part of a same-game parlay.
