Clemson vs Duke NCAAB Betting Preview

I project Duke as a 13.6-point favorite over Clemson on a neutral court, so I’m willing to play the Blue Devils at -10.5 or better, representing a minimum three-point difference between our projections and the market.

College Basketball Projections, Picks: Tanner McGrath's Power Ratings & Score Model Image

Is it fair to be worried about Duke in this conference tournament? Maybe. The Blue Devils are banged up, and they don’t have a huge incentive to win the tournament. Perhaps that was all shown by their effort against Florida State on Thursday.

However, I think the doubt has gone a little too far.

Duke struggled against Florida State because of some unfortunate two-way 3-point shooting variance. The Seminoles shot 11-for-28 (39%) from 3, while the Blue Devils shot 10-for-34 (29%).

Underneath that variance, Duke dominated the shot-volume battle behind a whopping 22 offensive rebounds.

ShotQuality graded that game as a 25-point Duke win based on the “quality” of shots taken and allowed (91-66).

Although Clemson has a solid frontcourt, I think the Blue Devils are a tad undervalued right now, and I’m willing to grab the nation’s best team at a discount. They beat Clemson by 13 last time these two faced off, after all.

My Pick: Duke -10.5 or Better
