North Dakota vs Alabama College Basketball Betting Preview

North Dakota Basketball

North Dakota has lost all sense of a veteran presence, but after just 12 wins last season, fresh faces could be exactly what the doctor ordered.

You can expect contributions from newcomers right away. Josh Jones (Oral Roberts) and Wylee Delorme (University of Mary) come in with expectations to start.

This team will be led by Paul Sather, who's entering his seventh season. Only once have the Fighting Hawks been above .500, when they were 18-14 season in 2024. Honestly, expect more of the same.

Not once has any Sather-led Fighting Hawks team been better than 242nd in adjusted defensive efficiency. This team will struggle to stop opponents, and catching Alabama to open the season won’t be a favor.

Alabama Basketball

The Crimson Tide have been a mainstay at the top of the rankings during Nate Oats' tenure. The 2025-2026 season won’t change that.

Even with a rebuilt roster, it’s hard to expect anything but a strong offensive effort in every Alabama game. Along with a ferocious offensive effort, we can also expect Alabama to control the pace.

This will also be Oats' seventh season at the helm. Adjusted tempo has been a mainstay focus for all of Oats’ teams, as they've never ranked lower than 14th and have ranked in the top five in that category three times.

Expect Bama to play fast, even in its opener.

North Dakota vs. Alabama Betting Analysis

It’s really hard to lay this many points, but with the speed that Bama has played at over its last few seasons, I expect the shot volume to play directly into its hands.

North Dakota will be forced to play up-tempo, but with the expectation that it'll struggle defensively, I have to question if it'll be able to keep pace. The answer is no, as Bama scored 80 in all but four games last season.

Expect a very high-scoring game, but it'll also be a complete destruction from Bama. North Dakota will get put into too many defensive transition situations, where it'll steadily fall out of favor with the spread.

My Pick: Alabama -31.5
