My Pepperdine vs Saint Mary's College Basketball Betting Preview
Pepperdine is on an incredible run in the WCC Tournament. The Waves have won three games in three days, toppling a higher seed in each matchup.
Unfortunately for them, they now get the buzzsaw that is Saint Mary’s in the semifinals.
The Gaels are rested, as well, having not played since Saturday, March 1. That’s a stark contrast from Pepperdine’s fourth game in four days, and the Waves could run out of gas in the second half against such a superior foe.
Saint Mary’s has demolished inferior competition for the entirety of the WCC season. That includes two beatdowns of this Pepperdine squad, winning 71-41 at home on Jan. 2 and 74-50 on the road on Jan. 18.
The Gaels completely suffocated the Waves' offense in both matchups. Pepperdine tallied just 0.65 and 0.81 points per possession while shooting below 40% from inside the arc.
Specifically, SMC limited dynamic Pepperdine point guard Moe Odum to just 9.0 points and 2.5 assists per game. He’s been on a tear in the WCC Tournament, posting 22.3 points and 11.3 assists per night; that hot streak likely ends tonight.
Randy Bennett’s squad is one of the best rebounding teams in the entire country, and that strength also showed up against Pepperdine. The Gaels won the rebounding battle on aggregate, 92-61. I expect that dominance to continue.
Between the massive edge in the paint and the huge rest advantage, Saint Mary’s should be able to name its number in this game.
