San Diego vs Pacific NCAAB Preview

The Toreros won two games in West Coast Conference play — one came against Pacific at home on December 30.

Meanwhile, the Tigers won four games in league play, with one coming against San Diego on February 6.

It seems like San Diego outplayed Pacific across the two-game draw, winning by 10 at home and losing by two on the road. However, the Tigers shot just 5-for-22 (23%) from 3 in their road loss.

Pacific has the cleaner offense, utilizing motion principles to generate a relatively high rim-and-3 rate (83%, third-highest in the WCC, per ShotQuality).

Unfortunately, the Tigers don’t have the appropriate spacing and shot-making to be effective and often turn the ball over.

Meanwhile, San Diego has a surprisingly solid defense against rollers and cutters, and the Toreros force turnovers at the third-highest rate in the WCC (17%, per KenPom).
