One of the top matchups on Wednesday’s slate is the battle of the Palmetto State as the Clemson Tigers host the South Carolina Gamecocks at Littlejohn Coliseum.

Both Clemson and South Carolina own 7-0 records out of the gate. The Tigers haven't gone this far without a defeat since 2009, when they began 16-0. The last time the Gamecocks won their first seven games came in 2017, when they eventually reached the Final Four.

Regardless of who wins this game on Wednesday, both of these teams look to be major threats in conference play.

Here's South Carolina vs Clemson odds and a pick for Wednesday.

South Carolina Gamecocks

Eight SEC teams are sitting in the top 50 of the KenPom ratings heading into Wednesday’s action. South Carolina is right outside of this group at 54th.

That’s an amazing jump under second-year head coach Lamont Paris, who guided the Gamecocks to an 11-21 record last season with a KenPom rating of 221st, which was the worst of any team in the SEC.

The Gamecocks are also helping backers by covering in six of their seven victories this year. The lone non-ATS win came as 22-point favorites in a 10-point victory over VMI.

South Carolina’s two best wins this season are against Virginia Tech and Grand Canyon, which both came away from Columbia. The Gamecocks are fresh off of two impressive home victories over Notre Dame and George Washington by double-digits.

In Friday’s 89-67 rout of George Washington, the Gamecocks avenged a 24-point defeat in D.C. last season. South Carolina scored its most points of any game this season while hitting 18-of-35 3-point attempts.

The Gamecocks rank 12th in the country in 3-point shooting at 40.2%, but the shooting from long distance has been inconsistent. South Carolina has shot 30% or worse on 3-point attempts in three games, but also hit 47% of its treys in three other wins.

Forward Meechie Johnson leads South Carolina by averaging nearly 18 points per game while hitting 9-of-16 3-pointers in the last two victories.

B.J. Mack has made a nice transition after spending his first three seasons at nearby Wofford, putting up 16.7 points per game for the Gamecocks, including 20 points against GW.

Last season, South Carolina edged Clemson, 60-58, as 3.5-point home underdogs, marking the second win in the past three meetings for the Gamecocks.

Clemson Tigers

The highest KenPom ranking the Tigers have had under head coach Brad Brownell was 14th back in 2018, when Clemson reached the Sweet 16.

Clemson has jumped all the way from 51st to start the season up to 28th following a 7-0 start. The Tigers are coming off a pair of impressive road wins against Alabama and Pittsburgh.

PJ Hall continues his terrific senior season, as the Tigers forward scored 21 points in an 85-77 triumph over Alabama as 8.5-point underdogs. Clemson trailed, 53-46, with less than 13 minutes remaining, but the Tigers outscored the Crimson Tide, 39-24, down the stretch for the win.

Clemson avoided a letdown in its conference opener at Pittsburgh, beating the Panthers, 79-70, as 1.5-point underdogs on Sunday.

The Tigers built an 11-point halftime lead as Hall scored 22 points and Joseph Girard III hit six 3-pointers and led Clemson with 25 points.

Clemson has compiled a 4-3 ATS mark, with the three ATS losses coming as a favorite of 7.5 points or more.

South Carolina has been tremendous from 3-point range, but Clemson is right there with the Gamecocks by ranking 10th in the country in 3-point percentage at 40.7%.

How about this number? Clemson has hit 33 treys in the last three games (11 each time), which is the same amount of free throws made by the Tigers during this stretch.

Betting Pick & Prediction

This series has been low-scoring throughout the years, even with all the roster changes. The last three matchups have easily remained under the total, and this is the highest total in the series since 2018.

Both teams have shot well from long distance this season, but let's see if that continues, as South Carolina has improved tremendously on the defensive end.

Let's take the under in this battle between South Carolina and Clemson.

Pick: Under 140 (Play to 138.5)
