Washington State vs Nevada College Basketball Betting Preview
**Editor's Note: Cedric Coward (Washington State's leading scorer) and Marcus Wilson are both out for tonight's game.**
Last season, Washington State reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2007-08 after winning 26 games. The Cougars even won their first-round matchup in the Big Dance, defeating Drake by five.
But then the offseason came and nearly the entire program changed. Out was Kyle Smith, who accepted the head coaching job at Stanford, and in came Eastern Washington's David Riley.
That's not all. The Cougars lost nearly every player in their rotation from last year, including leading scorers Isaac Jones, Myles Rice (Indiana) and Jaylen Wells.
Despite the lacking chemistry and new head coach, the Cougars have laid just one egg this season, a 17-point loss to SMU.
In fact, besides their opener against Portland State, none of their buy games have been competitive. Also, the Cougars stuck around with Iowa, leading the Hawkeyes by two with less than four minutes to play.
This is a different ball game, though. The Cougars are now playing their first true road game of the Riley era, and it doesn't help that it comes against Nevada, a team with five seniors in its rotation.
The Wolf Pack are also coming off a great performance in the Charleston Classic, going 2-1 with victories over VCU and Oklahoma State.
They are also well-rested, as they haven't played a game since November 24.
With this West Coast duel being played in Reno, I expect the Wolf Pack to control the pace by slowing the game down, while utilizing leading scorer Nick Davidson as a mismatch with his inside-out ability.
