The New England (2-6) and Tennessee Titans (1-6) will being the Sunday afternoon slate of NFL Week 9 at 1 p.m. ET from Nissan Stadium in Nashville. The game will be broadcast live on FOX and can be streamed on YouTube TV and other services. The Titans are favored by 3 points over the Patriots (Titans -3) with the game total set at 38.5 points. The Titans are -170 on the moneyline to win, while New England is +145 to pull off the upset.

The Titans lost 52-14 last week to the Bills. Will Levis is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury. If he is unable to go, it will be Mason Rudolph under center for Tennessee. The Patriots won 25-22 over the Jets last week. Drake Maye is also listed as questionable for this game after suffering a concussion last week, but reports indicate he is expected to start.

Let's get into my Patriots vs. Titans predictions and my NFL picks for Week 9.

Patriots vs. Titans NFL Week 9

The 2-6 New England Patriots travel to Tennessee to take on the 1-6 Titans in a game between two last place teams in their respective divisions. Offense has been a problem for both teams this season, with the Titans ranking 28th in points per game and the Patriots ranking 29th.

Things were starting to look up for the Patriots, who made the move to rookie quarterback Drake Maye in Week 6. His rushing ability added a new dimension to the Pats offense, and he was just as (if not more) effective as a passer than Jacoby Brissett.

The past tense there is intentional — Maye left the Week 8 contest early with a concussion, and still hasn't cleared the protocol as of Saturday morning. It's looking increasingly likely that the Patriots go back to Brissett this week. That's bad news for the offense, with New England averaging just 12.4 points per game with Brissett under center.

On the Titans side, their quarterback situation is also up in the air. Will Levis is officially questionable after missing the last two games, which unsurprisingly were their two lowest scoring games of the season.

Perhaps more importantly, backup running back Tyjae Spears has already been ruled out, and starter Tony Pollard failed to practice at all this week, so should be considered on the pessimistic side of questionable. Those are important injuries for a team that wants to rely on the run, as they rank in the bottom-ten in Pass Rate Over Expectation (PROE) in the league.

Of the four units involved in this game (both team's offenses and defenses) just one ranks above 30th in DVOA. That would be the Titans defense, who should have a field day no matter which quarterback is under center for the Patriots.

Given the Titans willingness to run out the clock — they rank 30th in pace despite their dreadful record — if the Patriots can't put up points, this will be a very slow, drawn out affair.

I'm not sure how the Patriots get anything going offensively here, so give me the under. It's fallen from 41 at open to as low as 38, but FanDuel still has 38.5 at -118. If that's gone I'd still take the 38 at -110 elsewhere, but try to get the better number.

Pick: Under 38.5 (-110)
