The Las Vegas Golden Knights have lost four straight. However, three of those four losses were decided by one goal as Vegas was outscored 12-7 during that span.
If you look at the underlying numbers, you'll see that the Golden Knights outshot their opponents 124-94 during their losing streak. Not to mention, Vegas created 9.65 expected goals at 5-on-5 while only potting five goals. The discrepancy shows they’re scoring below expectation, especially for a team with so much offensive talent.
They lost 2-1 to the Islanders in their last game despite allowing just 14 shots. They’ve been relatively unlucky, and have received poor goaltending at unfortunate times.
The Devils will have a tough time trying to stop the Golden Knights’ deadly top line and powerplay led by Jack Eichel, especially if Nico Hischier remains out
On top of that, Jacob Markstrom remains out, which means we likely see a Jake Allen start.
This will be Allen’s toughest test considering he’s only faced one top-15 offense since Markstrom went down:
- Jan 18th: 3-1 L vs PHI
- Jan 25th: 4-3 OTW vs MTL
- Jan 27th: 4-2 L vs PHI
- Jan 29th: 5-0 W vs PHI
- Feb 2nd: 4-3 L vs BUF
For some context, Buffalo’s offense is rated 13th in the NHL betting market ratings, while Vegas’s is rated fourth.
With Hischier and Markstrom out, I think this is a great spot for Vegas to get back on their feet and break their four-game losing streak. Would play Vegas ML up to -110.
Pick: Golden Knights ML (-110 or better)

Washington is one of the best teams in hockey, with a stifling defense and one of the best goalies in hockey. Combined with Philly’s struggle to score, I think Washington get the job done here today.
If we get Logan Thompson in net, sprinkle shutout as well today. Philly has two goals in its last four games and facing a Vezina Trophy candidate is not going to help its case.
The Blue Jackets are of the best home teams in hockey. They are 17-5-2 at home, and while Zach Werenski is a game-time decision, I think he plays because they need the points.
Utah have not yet confirmed a goalie but it’s very possibly Connor Ingram, who is a step down from Karel Vejmelka. Because of the goalie uncertainty and Werenski not 100% to go, I'm going with Columbus on the goal line, +1.5.
Columbus has covered this line at home in 12 straight games. While injuries hurt their overall potential, I think Werenski plays and the Blue Jackets keep it close tonight.
Pick: Parlay Capitals ML & Blue Jackets +1.5 (+153)

This line opened at Utah -120 and climbed all the way up to -150 in just a few hours. Despite the Blue Jackets having the better record and playing at home, we see the line continuing to shift toward the road team.
We will trust the sharp side with Utah tonight.
