Courtney Vandersloot has really kind of unlocked the Sky offense. I like it if we're getting a lot more of Sloot in a starting role, let's say 25 minutes, which would be up from the 15-18 range she had recently.
We also have Sky center Kamilla Cardoso, who has really looked good since coming back. And this is fantastic: if Sloot is starting, that's more minutes with Cardoso.
Cardoso's usage is up 10% with Vandersloot on the floor, and it honestly makes perfect sense. Skylar Diggins is a great guard, but she's not much of a classic pick-and-roll point guard. Meanwhile, Sloot is about as classic a pick-and-roll point guard as you will find in basketball history across any league, any gender, whatever. She is absolutely incredible at setting up bigs to succeed.
Let's look at the three games since Sloot came back. Cardoso scored 30 points in the first, 24 in the second and 16 in the most recent game.
So, the Chicago offense has really been cooking. Now, I will say the Mercury offense, with that current five-woman unit they're rolling out, has looked really elite.
And while the Sky offense has been great, their defense has struggled against this Phoenix team.
Sky vs. Mercury Prediction
I'll go with two picks here. First, the over, as these two offenses have been really good.
The market agrees. They opened at 172.5, and it's been going up. Definitely grab the lowest line you can find. I'll play 174.5 points.
My final pick is a prop. I'm backing Cardoso Over 15.5 points, and you can also play an alternate of 20 points or more. Natasha Mack is out for Phoenix, and she's their best interior defender.
I think Cardoso could have a monster game here.
