Cubs vs White Sox MLB Betting Pick, Betting Analysis
This one is more of a bet against Sean Burke than anything else.
Burke's surface numbers have been great this year, but under the hood, they are not that good. His xFIP and pCRA are actually kind of in line with his ERA this year. However, much of this is due to his walk rate and home runs per fly ball being lower than we can expect going forward.
This is a guy who gives up a good amount of contact to begin with, so I expect him to give up many more home runs than he's been doing so far.
I like Swanson against him getting a nice park upgrade here, too.
We sometimes think of Wrigley Field as more of a hitters' park, especially because once it gets warmer, the wind starts blowing out. But when you neutralize for wind and weather, this is a park that suppresses home runs by about 5%, going into a park that boosts home runs by about 10%.
That'll be a nice little park swing for Swanson, facing a pitcher that's definitely exploitable, giving us good odds on it.
