Tigers vs Orioles Prediction, Betting Analysis
Baltimore has been the worst offense in the league against left-handed pitching this season, as it ranks last in OPS and wOBA versus that side. The Orioles are 29th in wRC+, with Colorado beating them for the bottom spot.
Tonight's projected lineup has a .116 ISO and a .285 wOBA against lefties since the start of 2024. Those would be bottom-10 marks this season. This group has also combined for a strikeout rate up over 30% since the beginning of last season.
Tarik Skubal has somehow been even better this season. The reigning AL Cy Young winner has more than halved his walk rate, which is insane because he had a sub-5% BB% in 2024. Skubal has a career-high 33.4% strikeout rate and a career-low 31.7% hard-hit rate.
His ERA estimators are in line with his 2.16 ERA, with his "worst" mark being a 2.36 xERA.
I'd be fine taking under Baltimore's first five innings team total of 1.5 (-135). I'd definitely take that instead of Skubal's earned runs prop, which is 1.5 (-140).
I'm opting for the full-game team total, though, to give us a bit more breathing room at a similar price.
Detroit's bullpen ranks 12th in ERA and 14th in xFIP. That's nothing remarkable, but it has two elite options at the back end.
Tommy Kahnle and Will Vest have been tremendous as co-closers. After an off-day on Monday, they both pitched Tuesday and then didn't pitch on Wednesday. Kahnle and Vest should both be available tonight.
Skubal has gone seven-plus innings in three straight starts, so we might only need a couple of frames from the bullpen.
Pick: Orioles Team Total Under 3.5 (-145)
