I'm picking on the Orioles against a left-handed starter.

Tyler Anderson is no Tarik Skubal, but this matchup suits him. Baltimore ranks dead last in OPS, SLG, ISO and wOBA against left-handed pitching. The lack of power is particularly significant.

The Orioles have a .277 SLG and a .074 ISO vs. LHP. For context, the Pirates are 29th in SLG at .325. The Royals (.86) are the only other team with an ISO below .100. It's a massive gap.

Anderson gives up a ton of fly balls and limits hard contact. Soft fly balls are typically outs, so he can be effective if the ball stays in the yard.

Baltimore hasn't shown any power at all against lefties, which gives Anderson a good chance to put up a decent performance. He allowed one earned run over five innings against the Orioles in May. We'd certainly take that here.

The Angels are top 10 in OPS and wOBA against righties over the past 30 days. They draw an exploitable matchup against Tomoyuki Sugano, who has elite control but not much else.

Sugano's xFIP (4.29) and SIERA (4.49) are more than a run higher than his actual ERA (3.23).

To be fair, Anderson's ERA estimators are also worse than his ERA, but he gets the much better matchup.

The Angels' main flaw is contact, as they lead the league in strikeout rate against righties. Fortunately, Sugano ranks in the second percentile in K% and third percentile in whiff rate.

Pick: Angels First Five Innings Moneyline (+125)

The value on Angels right-handed hitters today is massive.
