Sean Paul's Phillies vs Marlins Best Bet
By Sean Paul
I'll take the Phillies as road favorites here.
I think Jesus Luzardo is one of the best pitchers in the NL, and he'll be able to carve up this reeling Marlins lineup. During their losing skid, they had a 25% strikeout rate, which Luzardo can use to his advantage.
Pick: Phillies ML (-175 or Better)
Ryan Minion's Orioles vs Tigers Best Bet
By Ryan Minion
The Orioles and Tigers will square off on Wednesday afternoon in the last of a three-game set at Comerica Park in Detroit in a game where runs may come at a premium considering the form of both starters.
Two-time AL Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal will take the mound for the Tigers, while the O’s plan to start fellow left-hander Trevor Rogers, who is in scorching form on the bump following a very volatile first two months of the 2026 season.
After a remarkable 2025 campaign resulted in Skubal winning his second straight Cy Young, the Tigers’ 29-year-old hit the shelf early this season, undergoing elbow surgery in May.
Since returning, Skubal has reverted to his previous elite form, recording a 2.70 ERA along with an extremely efficient 0.92 WHIP across his 15 outings in 2026 thus far.
Like his Wednesday counterpart, the O’s Rogers is fresh off a phenomenal 2025 campaign with a 1.81 ERA and 0.90 WHIP across just under 104 innings of work.
Despite starting his 2026 season in atrocious form on the mound, Rogers enters Wednesday’s matchup as one of the hottest pitchers in all of baseball with an impressive 1.80 ERA across nine outings throughout June and July.
As my primary betting angle ahead, I'm going with no runs scored in the first inning (NRFI) given how hot both starters are heading into this contest.
Pick: NRFI (-150 or Better)
Tanner McGrath's Rockies vs Padres Best Bet
The trend here is straightforward. Hughes hasn't finished a start with fewer than five strikeouts yet, and our model has him projected for 4.85 tonight, comfortably above the 4.5 line at a plus-money price.
His power arsenal has missed bats against three different lineups already, and there's no red flag in the matchup to suggest San Diego slows that down.
The edge is real, though it's worth remembering he's still a three-start sample; an early exit or an unusually contact-heavy night would be the way this misses.
Pick: Gabriel Hughes Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+110 or Better)
Evan Abrams's Guardians vs Reds Best Bet
By Evan Abrams
Our Bet Labs "Road Tilt in the Dead Heat" system recommends backing the Guardians to win the finale of this three-game series in Cincinnati.
After a split in yesterday's doubleheader, Cleveland will send Joey Cantillo to the mound tonight, while the Reds will start Brady Singer.
The Guardians have had a rough spell, losing seven of their past 10 contests, but they're bound to bounce back, and this opponent presents a good opportunity to win a series again.
The Reds rank dead last in wRC+ this season with an 89 rating. Plus, the Cleveland lineup is full of switch hitters and lefties against a pitcher that has issues against them.
Singer allows an .863 OPS to left-handed batters this season, with a .295 average and a .516 slugging.
Also, the Guardians have the sixth-best bullpen in MLB with a 3.71 ERA, which will come in handy after a doubleheader.
The Road Tilt in the Dead Heat system targets MLB regular-season games where two evenly matched teams — based on win percentage — meet in a non-division setting, and one is quietly priced as a modest road favorite, which is the case of the Guardians today.
When there's no clear performance gap, but the market still tilts slightly toward the road team, it suggests underlying confidence from oddsmakers that may not be reflected in public perception.
This model seizes those subtle cues, leaning into narrow value created by near-identical records and overlooked road strength.
Pick: Guardians ML (-150 or Better)
