Cardinals vs Marlins Prediction, Betting Analysis
Sandy Alcantara might be back. He's come out of the All-Star break with improved control, and better results have followed.
The quality of the arsenal never wavered for Alcantara in his first season back from Tommy John surgery. His 108 Stuff+ is in line with his career mark of 110. It's up to 112 in six starts since the All-Star break. The control, however, had been a big problem.
Alcantara posted three straight seasons with a Str% of 67.9% or better heading into 2025. He was down at 63.8% in 18 starts before the break. His Location+ was at 99.
Since the break, Alcantara has bumped the Str% back up to 66.6%. The subpar Location+ for each of his slider, curveball and changeup improved by six.
Alcantara gets a tremendous matchup tonight. St. Louis ranks dead last by a significant margin in OPS, wOBA, and wRC+ against righties over the past 30 days.
Andre Pallante will oppose Alcantara. He's been pounded for 29 earned runs over his last seven starts.
Pallante did befuddle this Miami squad for seven innings during this recent stretch, but getting another look at him in a short span should favor the offense.
The Marlins are top 10 in OPS and wOBA vs. RHP over the past 30 days.
Pick: F5 Marlins ML -130 (Fanatics)
