Arizona vs Kansas NCAAB Preview
The Arizona Wildcats travel to Allen Fieldhouse in hopes of closing out a successful first season in the Big 12.
However, going in and facing the Kansas Jayhawks is no easy task, regardless of the struggles we've seen them have in conference play this year.
This game is set to be a tightly contested war, with the biggest battles taking place in the paint. Both teams are excellent at working the ball inside and converting, as points in the paint have made up 40% of Arizona's offense and nearly 35% of Kansas' offense.
However, both teams have also shown that they can defend the paint as well. Just 31% of the points Arizona has allowed have come in the paint, and that rate is 29% for Kansas.
Which team is this stalemate likely to impact the most? That's going to be Arizona. The Wildcats don't stretch floor much, as their only threat from beyond the arc is Caleb Love, who's shot just 32% from beyond the arc.
As for the Jayhawks, it'll be interesting to see how Hunter Dickinson and KJ Adams Jr. contend with Henri Vassar's size around the rim. Zeke Mayo could be the X-factor on the perimeter, as the Wildcats rank 287th in 3-point rate allowed.
Overall, it's hard to find many avenues for offensive success on either end of the court. These two teams are very similar, and the only difference is the tempo. But with this game being decided down low, it's likely to be slower.
This total initially opened at 151.5 and has been up to as high as 154, but everything indicates that this number is going to be brought back down, and we're going to be a part of that movement.
Take the under and sweat out this conference battle.
