Kentucky Wildcats vs. Oklahoma Sooners Betting Guide

Kentucky Wildcats Betting Preview

The Wildcats come into this matchup off a tough loss to Alabama. However, they're in a great spot to bounce back on Wednesday.

Kentucky has been an offensive juggernaut this season, ranking sixth in adjusted offensive efficiency and 12th in effective field goal percentage. The Wildcats' scoring prowess — combined with their fast tempo — makes them a tough assignment for any opponent.

The Wildcats have the edge in three key areas.

The first, and perhaps most important, is in the paint. Over 35% of their offense has come in the painted area, and they've converted over 67% of their attempts.

The Sooners have allowed their opposition to convert nearly 61% of their shots from inside the paint, which has accounted for 39% of the points against them.

The next area is beyond the arc. Kentucky has been efficient from downtown, ranking 19th in 3-point percentage. While the Sooners have a solid defensive 3-point percentage, they'll allow their opposition to take plenty of 3s, which could prove deadly here.

Lastly, the Wildcats are the better rebounding team, and Amari Williams has the chance to make a big impact on the offensive glass. If he can clean up misses, Kentucky should have little issue putting up a big number on the scoreboard.

Of note: Lamont Butler (shoulder) and Jaxson Robinson (wrist) are both probable for this game.

Oklahoma Sooners Betting Preview

Oklahoma has had a rough time in the SEC, coming in with a 4-10 record against conference opposition.

On paper, the Sooners are solid on both ends, and their poor record shows the high quality of the conference this season.

Like the Wildcats, the Sooners are set to have success from inside the arc. Kentucky ranks 261st in 2-point percentage. However, the Wildcats have shown they're willing to emphasize the paint and surrender shots from beyond the arc.

Kentucky is 321st in 3-point rate allowed but eighth in 3-point percentage allowed. The Wildcats utilize their length to contest inside but also to close out on perimeter shooters.

With the pressure to keep pace, Oklahoma may have a hard time finding high-percentage looks. We've seen a lot of runs from Kentucky, and if Oklahoma goes cold from beyond the arc, it risks falling behind quickly.

Kentucky vs. Oklahoma Best Bet, Picks

Coming off a loss to a tough Alabama squad, the Wildcats aren't getting enough respect here. We've seen them take down Duke, Florida, Texas A&M and Tennessee this season.

Meanwhile, the Sooners have yet to consistently perform against the nation's top teams, especially in conference play.

Coming off a big win against Mississippi State, we should see them regress and reveal the gap between them and the Wildcats.

Back Kentucky to cover the spread.
