Kentucky Wildcats 2021-22 Season
John Calipari’s Kentucky Wildcats missed the NCAA Tournament last season for just the second time in his stint as head coach. Kentucky went 9-16 and finished eighth in the SEC, far below from the heights the program has reached in the last decade.
Entering the 13th season under Coach Cal, the Wildcats have woken up from a short hibernation and are again a powerhouse program. Kentucky is 21-4 midway through February and is No. 4 in the AP Top 25. While a loss to unranked Notre Dame puts a damper on their resume, a recent win over then-No. 5 Kansas helped catapult the Wildcats into the Top 5. Junior forward Oscar Tshiewbe is putting up potential All-American numbers (16.4 PPG, 15.3 RPG and 1.4 BPG) and leads the team in those categories as well.
With just a few weeks of regular season games left to play, the Wildcats have a legitimate shot at picking up a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament come March and could compete for a Final Four spot and beyond.

Betting on the Kentucky Wildcats
The Kentucky Wildcats have some tough matchups remaining in the season, so be sure to pay close attention to the odds. Here are some of the popular bet types that you can make on the Wildcats if you live in a legal sports betting state.
- Moneyline
- Point Spread
- Over/Under
- Props
- Futures Odds
Kentucky Moneyline
A moneyline bet requires a bettor to correctly pick the winner of the game. If you pick the winner of the game correctly, you will win the bet. How much you win will be determined by your wager amount and the associated moneyline for the team you bet on. Here's an example using a recent Kentucky game against Florida.
- Kentucky -650 moneyline
- Florida +400 moneyline
Kentucky is the heavily favored team to win this game, which is indicated by the minus sign (-) next to their moneyline. Florida is the underdog denoted by the plus sign (+) next to their moneyline. The moneyline number signifies the potential payout for each team. Someone betting on Kentucky would have to bet $650 to win $100 whereas a bettor would win $400 with a wager of $100 on Florida.
Kentucky Point Spread
Users can also place a point spread wager on the Kentucky Wildcats. This requires a bettor to correctly select the margin of victory by a particular team, rather than simply who wins. Here's the same Arizona vs. Washington matchup as an example.
- Kentucky -10 (-110)
- Florida +10 (-110)
Oddsmakers set a margin of victory total known as the spread. In this game, Kentucky has to win by 11 or more points to beat this spread and Florida either has to win the game outright or lose by 9 points or less to beat the spread. If the game ends with a 10-point Kentucky win, it’s a push. Point spreads also have an additional element known as juice, or the vig, which is the tax paid to the sportsbook for each bet. The juice is indicated next to the point spread. This number is used to determine a wager payout. For a bet on Kentucky, a bettor would earn a profit of $100 for every $110 risked. Someone betting on Florida would earn a profit of $100 for every $110 risked.
Kentucky Over/Unders
Betting on over/under totals looks at the cumulative final score between two teams, not the winner or loser of the game. Bettors are required to accurately predict if the teams combine higher or lower than a number set by oddsmakers. Oddsmakers set the over/under total for Kentucky vs. Florida at 140.5 points.
- Over 140.5 points (-118)
- Under 140.5 points (-110)
Again, juice or vig comes into play with over/unders. Betting over 140.5 points means in this case that a bettor would have to wager $118 to earn $100. Betting under 140.5 points would mean a bettor would earn $100 for every $110 risked.
Kentucky Prop Bets
For those Kentucky Wildcats fans that have a particular favorite player, prop bets are a great way to show your support. Oddsmakers will also set lines on player statistics. Bettors then have the opportunity to guess whether those players will go over or under the set line to win money. Some popular prop bets include how many points a player will score, who will score first, how many rebounds a player gets, and many more.
Kentucky Future Odds
If you like Kentucky’s odds to make the Final Four or win the NCAA Tournament, take a look at futures odds . A futures bet is wager for an event happening in the later in the season. Because a futures bet can be really hard to predict, the payouts are much higher than a typical wager. The Wildcats are currently +175 to make the Final Four and +1100 to win the NCAA Tournament.
How to Bet on the Kentucky Wildcats
Sports betting is not currently legal in Kentucky, and there does not seem to be much in the way of progress for it to be legalized by the end of 2022. While Republican politicians have been largely opposed to sports betting in recent years, new Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear is supportive of sports betting legalization.
