USC Trojans 2021-22 Season
USC hasn’t been much of a football school in the last decade and is starting to feel more like a basketball school as of late. The Trojans made it all the way to the Elite Eight last season with the Mobley brothers leading the way.
Now that Evan Mobley is in the NBA, Isaiah Mobley has taken the reins and leads the team in points (14.6 PPG) and rebounds (8.3 RPG). USC is the No. 17 team in the nation and second in the Pac-12 behind rival No. 3 Arizona.
Do they have enough to make another deep NCAA Tournament run? Could this team make the first Final Four since 1954? We’ll find out soon.
Take a look at our college basketball odds to see how the Trojans fare in the coming weeks.
Betting on the USC Trojans
The USC Trojans have some tough matchups remaining in the season, so be sure to pay close attention to the odds. Here are some of the popular bet types that you can make on the Trojans if you live in a legal sports betting state.
- Moneyline
- Point Spread
- Over/Under
- Props
- Futures Odds
USC Moneyline
A moneyline bet requires a bettor to correctly pick the winner of the game. If you pick the winner of the game correctly, you will win the bet. How much you win will be determined by your wager amount and the associated moneyline for the team you bet on. Here's an example using a recent USC game against UCLA.
- UCLA -190 moneyline
- USC +160 moneyline
UCLA is the slightly favored team to win this game, which is indicated by the minus sign (-) next to their moneyline. USC is the underdog denoted by the plus sign (+) next to their moneyline. The moneyline number signifies the potential payout for each team. Someone betting on UCLA would have to bet $190 to win $100 whereas a bettor would win $160 with a wager of $100 on USC.
USC Point Spread
Users can also place a point spread wager on the USC Trojans. This requires a bettor to correctly select the margin of victory by a particular team, rather than simply who wins. Here's the same Tennessee vs. Kentucky matchup as an example.
- UCLA -4 (-110)
- USC +4 (-110)
Oddsmakers set a margin of victory total known as the spread. In this game, UCLA has to win by 5 or more points to beat this spread and USC either has to win the game outright or lose by 3 points to beat the spread. If UCLA wins by exactly 4-points, it’s settled as a push. Point spreads also have an additional element known as juice, or the vig, which is the tax paid to the sportsbook for each bet. The juice is indicated next to the point spread. This number is used to determine a wager payout. For a bet on UCLA, a bettor would earn a profit of $100 for every $110 risked. Someone betting on USC would earn a profit of $100 for every $110 risked.
USC Over/Unders
Betting on over/under totals looks at the cumulative final score between two teams, not the winner or loser of the game. Bettors are required to accurately predict if the teams combine higher or lower than a number set by oddsmakers. Oddsmakers set the over/under total for USC vs. UCLA at 136.5 points.
- Over 136.5 points (-110)
- Under 136.5 points (-110)
Again, juice or vig comes into play with over/unders. Betting over 136.5 points means in this case that a bettor would have to wager $110 to earn $100. Betting under 136.5 points would mean a bettor would earn $100 for every $110 risked.
USC Prop Bets
For those USC fans that have a particular favorite player, prop bets are a great way to show your support. Oddsmakers will also set lines on player statistics. Bettors then have the opportunity to guess whether those players will go over or under the set line to win money. Some popular prop bets include how many points a player will score, who will score first, how many rebounds a player gets, and many more.
USC Trojans Futures
If you like USC’s odds to make the Final Four or win the NCAA Tournament, take a look at futures odds. A futures bet is wager for an event happening in the later in the season. Because a futures bet can be really hard to predict, the payouts are much higher than a typical wager.
How to Bet on the USC Trojans
Sports betting in California hasn't been legalized yet, but state residents and visitors may have access to legalized betting in late 2022 or early 2023. Two existing sports betting initiatives have acquired the necessary signatures to appear on the Nov. 2022 ballot. Voters will choose between online sports betting or retail (casino) betting.
