UIC vs High Point College Basketball Betting Preview
UIC Basketball
It’s hard to disagree with the fact that UIC has started the year on a high note. The Flames have lost just once — to Oregon State — and while the Beavers aren't necessarily a great measuring stick, for this program, that’s huge.
The Flames brought in a few transfer players to aid in their quest for a postseason berth, but their overall weaknesses should lead to struggles within conference play.
The Flames' biggest strengths reside in their defense and their ability to shoot well at the free throw line. But their weaknesses will be too much to contain, as they're terrible at rebounding and lack any type of size in the paint.
UIC is also terrible at keeping its turnovers down, committing a tick more than 14 giveaways a game to start the season. In fact, against Oregon State, the Flames gave the ball away 16 times, which is the very reason they lost that game.
High Point Basketball
High Point has quickly become the fan favorite of mid-major programs, especially after reaching the program's first ever NCAA Tournament last season.
Fast forward to 2025-26, and this is a roster filled with a nice mix of returning players and transfer players under first-year man Flynn Clayman.
The biggest name acquired is none other than Cam’Ron Fletcher. The 6-foot-7 senior forward has made stops at Kentucky, Florida State and Xavier before finding a home at High Point.
He currently leads the team in scoring amidst his highest point total of his career, and he leads a team that averages north of 93 points per game.
While High Point's scoring is inflated due to its competition, it’s still noteworthy, as this is a team built upon a high-pressure offense that was originally instilled by now Creighton assistant Alan Huss.
The Panthers' weaknesses do present themselves on the interior. They don’t have much size, and they play a style that works with their roster makeup.
Their eight returning starters also provide depth that not many other programs can offer in the current landscape of college basketball.
UIC vs. High Point Betting Analysis
I don't see a reason why I shouldn't lay the points with High Point.
The Panthers' style of play will be very hard for the Flames to correct its biggest issues, and that should allow them a lot of fast-break chances.
While UIC has been strong on defense, it’s really hard to imagine a world in which it contains Fletcher and company to stick around.
The depth and solid defense of High Point will make this game a blowout.
My Pick: High Point -8.5 (Play to -9)
