Cardinals vs. Seahawks Predictions

Spread

Despite the Cardinals' prowess early in games, which I'll go into in more detail below, I'm backing the Seahawks.

I'll take the point with Seattle and I'm also think about investing in futures.

Moneyline

If it gets to a pick'em, I'll bet Seattle. I'd prefer to take whatever point(s) I can get, though.

Over/Under

I have no pick on the game total for this game.

My Pick: Seahawks +1.5 (-110)

Cardinals vs. Seahawks Week 12 Preview, Prediction

This is a huge game in the NFC West, which is the only division with all four teams at .500 or better.

The Cardinals are one game ahead of the pack and 2-0 in divisional games. A win over the Seahawks would be massive and put a massive dent in Seattle’s playoff hopes.

The Cardinals defense has taken a huge leap in DVOA of late — up to No. 12 overall — as well as against the pass and run. I’m not sold on that, though, since that improvement might be down to playing the Bears and Jets in their last two games.

While I’m not sold on the Cardinals defense, their offense has a big edge here.

Arizona is first in first-quarter DVOA, while Seattle is 32nd. I wouldn’t hate playing the Cardinals over 3.5 first-quarter points at plus money.

Despite that, I still like Seattle in the matchup.

If you exclude a rough stretch from Weeks 4-6 when this unit was dealing with a variety of key injuries, the Seahawks defense ranks seventh overall, eighth against the pass and sixth against the run. Head coach Mike Macdonald has this unit playing much better, and holding the 49ers to 17 points last week is a great example.

The Seahawks defense also goes from No. 21 overall to flirting with the top 10 when playing at home. The Cardinals defense, meanwhile, goes from around the top five to 26th on the road.

I like Seattle in this matchup and would also recommend a futures bet in addition to it winning here.

The Seahawks are +600 to win the NFC West. The Cardinals face the Vikings on the road next week before playing the Seahawks again. Arizona closes the season on the road against the Rams and at home against the 49ers.

Speaking of the 49ers, their schedule gets tough. They face Green Bay this week before going to Buffalo next week. San Francisco also has to face the Rams, Dolphins (away) and Lions this season.

It’s not out of the realm of possibility that the Seahawks are in first place in the NFC West after Week 13, so let’s get ahead of it.

My Pick: Seahawks +1.5 (-110)
