B. Woo ⬆️ 5.5 K's At first glance this seems like a square bet. Trends alone make it look great. Woo has cleared this mark in each of his last 5 and 9 of his last 10. That includes tougher K matchups, like SDP, HOU and CWS. It also includes this same TBR team, who K'd 9 times to Woo. The pitch mix from Woo is really why I like this matchup. He throws FB, Sinker, Sweeper, Slider and Changeup. Specifically, the FB, Sweeper and Slider are his best K pitches. Here is how this lineup fairs vs those pitches in terms of K%: Fastball: 22.4% Slider: 25.2% Sweeper: 30.8% So those 9 K's must have been on the two off speed pitches, right? Nope. 7 of his K's were on the fastball! Why? Well, I think TBR was overcompensating (to some degree) for the off speed pitches deep into the count. Of the 7 FB strikeouts, 6 were at the top of the zone. Ultimately, I think this really bodes well for a second matchup bc TBR has to be more prepared for the high FB. If it's not as effective, Woo can easily use his secondaries lower in the zone and still generate swings and misses. Woo also just creates himself such a nice floor since he goes at least 6 innings in almost every start. Even in the 9 K outing vs TBR last time out, he only went 6. There's plenty of upside here and I think looking at PA strikeouts could be profitable as well.
