Since German returned from his sticky stuff suspension, his K% has dipped from 26% to 17% as has his swinging strike % (15.2% to 10.5%). He’s under in 4/5 starts since coming back. Yes it’s OAK, but really only 5 plus spots for him, and with the Yankees losing game 1, and German’s struggles the third time through (6 homers allowed, .904 OPS) he’ll once again be on a shorter leash. He’s also coming off his two worst starts of the season by far.

That's even with the Yankees' offense being much more feisty against lefties without Aaron Judge than righties. JP Sears has pitched well of late, posting a 4.35 SIERA in 8 starts with more four-seamers thanks to minimal walks and a decent number of strikeouts. Sears lets up a lot of fly balls, but that's a lot less likely to hurt him at home in 63-degree temperatures than other conditions. Domingo German has been searching recently and still hasn't hit his groove, so I agree with the model in being high on the A's here.
