Dilfer and his OC Alex Mortensen can scheme things up to take advantage of their weapons, particularly this running back room which could be special by AAC standards. Jevon Jackson and Solomon Beebe are really explosive runners, Jalen Kitna unlike his predecessor Jacob Zeno likes to push the ball down field. So this offense as a result is explosive on the ground and through the air. Navy had to replace just about half of its defensive produciton, and their opener against VMI meant nothing. The Keydets nearly went winless in 2024, they stink. So oddsmakers kind of throw out both FCS games from Week 1, and say, well last year the final was 41-18 Navy, let’s just make it around 59 again. Here’s the thing, that was Zeno’s last game as the starter. From there, with Kitna starting, UAB games averaged 65 points per game. Dilfer Overs have cashed 64% of the time, 8th-best clip in the sport since 2023 when he took over. And to battle against the…WELL they saw the triple option twice last year and they hired a former Air Force DC. How’d that go last year? Gave up 41 to Navy and 44 to Army. And his DC Steve Russ, last time he called plays against a Navy offense, his defense at Air Force gave up 48 points and 471 rushing yards. The guy is an upgrade over the HS coach they had as a DC last year, but he’s no option stopping magician. This defense couldn’t tackle against Alabama State and had receivers running wide open against them. Navy is clinical and explosive with Cronic…they’ll take advantage. Gimme the over, my numbers call for this to be 65.
