Finding more floor than ceiling tonight for the rookie, especially with no pure certainty he sees heavy playing time. The New York Knicks backcourt has significantly thinned out over the past few games with guards Brunson, McBride, & Payne all ruled out and while Kolek’s playmaking has looked the part, averaging 8.0 assists in the last three games on 18.7 minutes, he still has other areas he needs to improve first on the floor before earning the permanent rotation piece. L3 games KAT Mikal and OG are shooting a combined 59% from his passes and last game vs. LAC, Kolek started for the injured Duece McBride in the entire 3rd quarter, but noticeably did not close the game, having Delon Wright play over him. Kolek shot 2/10 from the field in the L3 games and is shooting below 36% from 3PT, and while that isn’t big enough size, teams will start going under and switching on his screens, to force him to beat them on shooting without passing. Kolek’s 6 foot 3 stature also will do him no justice in impeding drives from finishers, especially Giannis Antetokounmpo who can pick on him. Delon Wright is a little taller and could make for a better case to split equal 48 minutes. Tonight I’m only projected 23-27 for Kolek, with some downside if NYK runs Achiuwa/Mitch next to KAT for size on Lopez Giannis. And besides that, passing regression is due his way especially running hot in his potentials conversions in the past. #PlayerProps

B. Lopez ⬆️ 1.5 Assist Collab w/ @SC_FFB 🤝 Lopez tends to distribute a little more without Lillard on the floor. As most of you know, Lillard isn't likely to see the court again this season as he deals with a blood clot issue. Without Lillard, Lopez has cleared this mark in 6 of his last 7 games. Lillard leads the team in potential assists over their last 10, so some of the distribution will get spread out. Even with Lillard, Lopez is averaging 3.2 potentials per game and 1.6 assists. I think we can see him get to 2 pretty easily here in what should be a competitive game against NYK.
