The math in our projections at RotoGrinders is clear. Even at an absurdly low play volume projection (that I’m not convinced is where we’ll remain all weekend), the over on this prop shows an edge. By no means is this a full endorsement of Washington’s pass offense for the season, but against the Giants defense I am fairly willing to be bullish on just about anything. They made Sam Darnold look like a legend last week. #PropBet

Both the Commanders and Giants are dealing with glaring defensive issues that surfaced in Week 1, making the over an attractive option. Washington's defensive line showed some ability to create pressure, but their secondary was exposed throughout the game, which allowed opposing quarterbacks like Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold to rank first and second in EPA+CPOE. On the Giants' side, while Dexter Lawrence performed brilliantly, their defensive unit as a whole was dismantled, allowing 6.1 yards per play to Minnesota. This inability to control the passing game creates an excellent opportunity for both teams to move the ball consistently.
Offensively, expect a much better performance from Daniel Jones this week after a tough game against Brian Flores' relentless blitz. His mobility and the scrambling prowess of Jayden Daniels for the Commanders open up even more opportunities for explosive plays. Daniels showed flashes of potential in his debut, contributing significantly to Washington's ground game, which averaged 138 rushing yards. His presence as a dual-threat QB puts pressure on an already shaky Giants defense, and the Commanders will likely build on this against a New York unit that is allowing 28 points and 312 yards per game. Additionally, Daniels will have the benefit of his first home game, which typically aids young quarterbacks in settling down.
Further complicating the defensive picture for Washington are injuries to key players, such as DT Jer’Zhan Newton and CB Emmanuel Forbes Jr., both of whom are questionable. This further diminishes an already underperforming defensive group. Similarly, the Giants are dealing with injuries, with Nick McCloud and Darius Slayton questionable, and receiver Gunner Olszewski ruled out. These defensive vulnerabilities should create more opportunities for both offenses to take advantage of mismatches and drive the scoring higher.
While neither offense is considered elite, the combination of suspect defenses, injuries, and the potential for improved quarterback play sets this game up for a higher-scoring affair. Both the Giants and Commanders are allowing over 6 yards per play, and Washington has given up a troubling 37 points per game.

These defenses stink -- but the offenses should, too. I've got this at 40.2, so plenty of room toward the under for me.
